Sample Group Commitment for Pain to Purpose Groups

Objective of the Pain to Purpose Course:
This course is designed to help you overcome trauma, repair broken pieces, and reignite your purpose. It provides a pathway and plan to navigate through your struggles, allowing you to clear away the debris of crisis, rebuild a solid foundation, and move forward with renewed purpose and victory. The course fosters a safe and supportive environment for processing pain, reminding participants that God will not waste their suffering.

What It Is:

  • A Safe Space to Process Your Pain: Group discussions will encourage exploration and expression of the topics in each Waypoint, inviting God to bring healing into your life.

  • A Way to Connect with Others: Your active participation—through attendance, engagement in discussions, and completion of outside assignments—will enhance the benefits you gain from the group.

  • A Place of Trust and Confidentiality: We emphasize that what is shared within the group remains confidential–fostering trust and safety.

  • Respect for Individual Stories: Each person has their own unique experiences and perspectives, and it is up to them to share what they feel comfortable with. Participants are not required to share the details of their pain stories, but are encouraged to share how the content of the course is affecting their healing journey.

What It Isn’t:

  • Specific Details: It is helpful to share what you have been through, but we encourage you to avoid sharing anything that is not helpful to you or the group. Sharing your pain story in great detail, especially if it involves sensitive information regarding yourself or others, may cause you more hurt so it is not recommended.

  • Deep, Individualized Counseling: This group is not a substitute for one-on-one counseling.  It’s a space for sharing insights from the course and what God is teaching you through it.

  • A Competition: Everyone in the Pain to Purpose course has experienced some kind of trauma, tragedy, or major life transition. The focus is on connection and mutual support, so comparisons or competition among members leads to isolation and the lack of understanding and connection. Pain is pain. There is not a need to rank who has been through the harder situation. Choose connection over comparison.

Commitment of Attendance:
Regular attendance is crucial for building trust and continuity. Please commit to attending each week, especially during the initial sessions as we get to know each other and the course content.

Referrals for Additional Support:
If you need deeper counseling or coaching, referrals will be available to appropriate professionals or resources, including support from the Nothing is Wasted staff team and coaches.

Safe and Skilled Processing Environment:
Group facilitators are dedicated to maintaining a safe and supportive atmosphere, allowing members to process their pain, regardless of its complexity or intensity.

Conclusion:
By making this commitment to one another and this course, we can create a nurturing environment where each participant feels understood, supported, and empowered in their healing journey with God.
